Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Hocam Academy platform. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.
Last updated: July 21, 2026
1. About Hocam Academy
Hocam Academy is an independent online educational platform. It helps university students discover and buy recorded video courses, and helps approved instructors publish courses for those students. Hocam Academy is not affiliated with any university, even when course catalogs are organized by university, faculty, or program.
We may modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue features, services, or functionality at any time.
2. User Accounts
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login credentials secure. Accounts are personal. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
Email verification may be required before you can access or use your account. You can request a password reset to the email address on your account.
You must be at least the minimum age required to enter into a legally binding agreement in your jurisdiction, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian where applicable.
Account roles include student (learner), instructor (learner capabilities plus teaching tools after approval), and administrator (platform operations). Administrators may suspend accounts that violate these terms or create risk for other users.
3. Instructor Applications and Teaching Access
Teaching on Hocam Academy requires an approved instructor application. Applicants submit academic and professional information, a teaching demo video, and optional CV or transcript files. Applications are reviewed by administrators. Applicants must also accept the Instructor Terms before submitting an application.
Approval upgrades the applicant's role to instructor and allows course creation tools. Rejection does not automatically remove learner access to the account. Rejected applicants may be able to resubmit according to the product flow.
Instructors must provide payout bank details (such as IBAN and account holder information) before creating or submitting courses, so that platform operators can process earnings payouts. Instructor earnings and withdrawals are handled according to the payout workflow available on the platform and the Instructor Terms.
4. Courses, Content, and Intellectual Property
Instructors retain ownership of the original course content they create and upload, subject to these Terms, the Instructor Terms, and any licenses needed from third parties. Instructors represent and warrant that they own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to upload and distribute their course materials through Hocam Academy. When an instructor submits a course, administrators review it. An approved course is published on the catalog. Rejected courses may include an administrator reason and can be revised and resubmitted according to product rules.
By uploading or submitting any course, the instructor grants Hocam Academy an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, watermark, transcode, stream, display, market, advertise, reproduce as necessary for platform operation, distribute, sell, and promote that course while it remains published on Hocam Academy. This is a license grant, not a transfer of copyright ownership.
While a course remains published on Hocam Academy, the instructor may not upload, publish, sell, license, distribute, or make substantially the same course available on another website, marketplace, academy, social media platform, or commercial service without prior written permission from Hocam Academy.
Students who purchase access receive a limited, personal, non-transferable license to stream lesson videos and access permitted lesson resources for their own learning. They do not acquire ownership of course materials. Existing students retain access to purchased courses according to these Terms, the Refund Policy, and applicable platform policies. Lesson video players are configured to discourage downloading of video files. Lesson resource files may still be downloadable when an instructor attaches them.
If an instructor removes a course or terminates their instructor account, Hocam Academy may continue hosting the course solely to provide access to students who previously purchased it. The course will no longer be sold to new students. Once all obligations to existing purchasers have ended, the exclusive license for that course automatically terminates. Hocam Academy may continue using course titles, thumbnails, and short excerpts for historical, marketing, or portfolio purposes unless prohibited by applicable law.
Hocam Academy and its licensors own the platform software, branding, and platform-generated materials (including platform intro media and logo overlays applied during video processing).
5. Purchases and Payments
Students may purchase an entire course or, where offered, individual chapters. Free items (zero price) may be completed without payment.
Paid purchases are completed using the payment methods made available by Hocam Academy at checkout. Depending on the method used, you may need to complete additional confirmation or verification steps. Access is granted according to the checkout and verification process applicable to that payment method, or immediately for free purchases.
Prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout. Submitting false, altered, or unauthorized payment information or confirmation materials is prohibited and may lead to rejection, account suspension, and refusal of access.
6. Refunds
Refund handling is described in the Refund Policy. The platform does not provide an automated in-app refund button. Digital purchases are generally non-refundable once access has been granted, except for limited situations evaluated by Hocam Academy as described in that policy.
7. Student Responsibilities
Students must use content only for personal study, not share account credentials, not attempt to download, copy, redistribute, or publicly rebroadcast protected lesson videos, and not circumvent watermarks, signed URLs, or access controls.
Reviews must be honest and based on a permitted purchase. Abusive or unlawful reviews may be removed.
8. Instructor Responsibilities
Instructors must submit accurate application information, accept the Instructor Terms, upload only content they have rights to use, avoid infringing or unlawful material, and keep payout details accurate. They are responsible for the quality and legality of their courses and for complying with the exclusive license while a course is published.
Instructors must not attempt to bypass admin review, manipulate ratings unlawfully, or misuse student information visible through teaching tools.
9. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to misuse the platform. Without limitation, you must not: attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data; upload or distribute malware or other harmful code; impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation; scrape, harvest, copy, or redistribute platform content without permission; interfere with or disrupt the operation, security, or integrity of the platform; violate applicable laws or regulations; abuse reviews, ratings, or payment systems; or circumvent security measures, access controls, watermarks, or other technical protections.
We may investigate suspected violations and take action we deem appropriate, including removing content, rejecting payments or confirmations, suspending or terminating accounts, and cooperating with authorities where required.
10. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or limit access to accounts, courses, or content for violations of these terms, failed payment verification involving misconduct, security risk, legal compliance, or prolonged inactivity where appropriate.
You may stop using the platform at any time. Because self-service deletion is not currently available, contact us if you need account closure assistance. Provisions that should survive termination (such as intellectual property, payment records, and limitation of liability) continue to apply.
11. Disclaimer
Courses are created by instructors. Hocam Academy provides the marketplace and infrastructure but does not guarantee academic outcomes, university credit, exam success, or continuous availability.
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available. Maintenance, outages, third-party failures, processing delays (including video processing), and other technical interruptions may occur.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hocam Academy and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for loss of data or business opportunity arising from use of the platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to Hocam Academy for the purchase giving rise to the claim, except where prohibited by applicable law.
13. Force Majeure
Hocam Academy is not responsible for delays or failures in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet outages, cyberattacks, governmental actions, labor disputes, and failures of third-party providers.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws applicable to the operator of Hocam Academy, unless mandatory consumer protection laws require otherwise.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Cookie Policy, and (for instructors) the Instructor Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Hocam Academy regarding use of the platform and supersede prior communications on the same subject, except as required by mandatory law.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions as the platform changes. The Last updated date will be revised when we publish changes. Your continued use of the platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
